JOSS PAPER is Chinese paper and it is burned at funerals as offerings to gods for a prosperous afterlife. Fasano currently works with paper that was handmade 40 years ago bought in China Town in San Francisco, which comes layered with gold and silver leaf. He works to embellish it using pencil, ink, and gentle indentations careful not to take away from the beauty. These works use pencil and ink.
